Our Counselors

 

LINANN TEGGART, MA, LPCC-S

Linann is the owner of Mighty Oak and is an independently licensed professional counselor in the state of Ohio. She received her undergraduate degree in Communications from the University of Toledo and her Master's degree from Spring Arbor University out of Jackson, Michigan in 2010. Linann interned at Pathways Christian Counseling in Findlay and then spent several years working at Firelands Counseling and Recovery in Fremont and Fostoria. She has a diverse background working with people and has experience in education, ministry, and the business world. Linann has training and experience in Trauma-focused CBT and complex PTSD and grief. She continues to navigate her role as wife, mom, daughter, sister, and friend. Linann values the importance of resiliency and relationships and approaches client work with emotive, relational and psychodynamic techniques. Linann began Mighty Oak Christian Counseling in Fall of 2014.

LISA NAPIERALA, MA, LPCC, LSC

Lisa is dually-licensed as a Professional Clinical Counselor and a School Counselor in the state of Ohio and has worked at Mighty Oak since 2016. She received her undergraduate degree in psychology and her Master's degree in counseling from The University of Toledo. Before earning her Master's, Lisa spent several years as a case analyst in psychological private practice. She completed her clinical internship in community mental health and has experience as a college career counselor. While Lisa has experience working with a variety of mental and emotional disorders, her clinical work focuses on anxiety, relationship dynamics, grief, stressful life transitions and connecting past experiences with current challenges. Lisa emphasizes self-compassion strategies and a strong therapeutic relationship while helping clients to utilize their strengths. She works from a cognitive-behavioral and client-centered approach to help promote positive changes. Personally, Lisa enjoys gardening, hiking, photography as well as her roles as wife and mom.

BRENDA S. WILHELM, MA, LPCC, LSW

Brenda, recently retiring from a 14-year stint as a guidance counselor at Start High School, has over 30 years of experience working in a professional setting helping individuals become successful in spite of the obstacles they face. In addition to experience in the education field, Brenda counseled in agencies and hospitals and had her own private Christian counseling agency. Having written and piloted several successful programs including Project HAPPY and ONWARD and UPWARD, she has experience facilitating parenting programs, divorce recovery, addiction recovery, domestic violence and sexual abuse recovery programs as well as college and career exploration programs. Earning her Master's Degree in Counseling from BGSU, Brenda is a Licensed Social Worker as well as an independently Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and previously a Licensed School Counselor. Brenda and her husband enjoy their blended family of six married adult children, their spouses, 17 grandchildren and an adult foster son along with many good friends they have "adopted" along the way. Brenda's favorite Scripture is "Don't just pretend to love others but truly love them, counting them better than yourself," Romans 12:9. When you meet Brenda, you will find that she has a passion for helping others achieve that zest for life and helping them discover the pathway to successfully walk in their calling.

JOHANNA VANRENTERGHEM, MA, LPCC

Johanna is a professional counselor with a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from BGSU and a Master's degree in Counseling from Cincinnati Christian University. She did her internship with City Gospel Mission in Cincinnati, Ohio. Johanna has served a diverse range of clients in various capacities including community mental health centers with an emphasis in crisis and drug/alcohol treatment. Johanna was also a recruiter and trainer for foster parents. She worked as a sexual risk avoidance educator for youth in schools and has experience working as a mental health counselor at Heidelberg University, providing individual counseling with students and conducting QPR Suicide Prevention and other training topics on campus. Johanna utilizes cognitive behavioral and Relational Therapy techniques valuing the emphasis of relationship and communication approaches. Johanna is a wife and mother of twin boys.

WAYNE MORSE, PH.D.

Wayne Morse is a Clinical Psychologist in the state of Ohio. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Mount Union College, a Master’s Degree in Divinity from Columbia Biblical Seminary, a Master’s Degree in Psychology from Wheaton College, and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Union Institute & University. He was a pastor in the Christian Missionary Alliance denomination for 3 years before feeling drawn to a ministry in counseling. Wayne worked for Cornerstone Psychological Associates in Ashland, Ohio for 3 years and was an adjunct professor at Ashland Theological Seminary for 5 years. He was in private practice for 15 years. He has 32 years of experience in counseling. His special interests are the treatment of adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse, eating disorders, and couples/family therapy. He is comfortable utilizing a number of treatment approaches but prefers to look at emotional issues as a symptom of unresolved hurt from the past. He enjoys reading, watching movies, and spending time with his 4 grandchildren.

LAUREN RAMSEY, MA, LPCC

Lauren is a licensed professional clinical counselor in the State of Ohio. She earned her Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2017 from Bowling Green State University where she received training to diagnose and treat a variety of mental and emotional issues. Lauren has experience working with adults and adolescents struggling with stress, anxiety, trauma, self-esteem issues, mood disorders, life transitions, relationship issues, communication skill building, and substance use disorders. She has experience working in both community mental health and private practice settings and has worked with clients individually as well as facilitated intensive outpatient groups for adults in early recovery from alcohol and drug addiction. Lauren specializes in working with young adults and adolescents/teens to navigate through life changes and challenges, to form healthy relationships, as well as to address anxiety and trauma. Lauren aims to create a safe and welcoming environment for clients. She partners with her clients to navigate healing from past and current struggles in order to promote their overall wellness. She utilizes strength-based, collaborative, motivational interviewing, and cognitive behavioral approaches. Lauren enjoys spending time with her husband, friends and family, reading, listening to podcasts, camping, and spending time outdoors.

ADRIAN BANEY, MA, LPCC-S

Adrian is a licensed professional clinical counselor in Ohio. She graduated with a Bachelor's degree in psychology from Mount Vernon Nazarene University in 2002 and with her Master's degree in Clinical Pastoral Counseling in 2006. She is also an adoption assessor for the State of Ohio, with ongoing experience working with both adoptive and birth parent families. Adrian began her career working for a large community mental health agency, providing care for families involved with Children's Services, adults and adolescents who were court-ordered for treatment, and also working with those who were self-referred. After a decade of community mental health work, she moved to northwest Ohio and spent time teaching community college classes and doing adoption assessment work while focusing on spending time with her kids. From 2015 until joining Mighty Oak in 2022, Adrian worked in college mental health as a director of services for students seeking treatment in the college setting. Adrian is passionate about helping people navigate difficult life challenges with the strengths that God has given each individual. She enjoys teaching others about therapeutic lifestyle changes through a cognitive behavioral lens and has experience working with a variety of concerns. She has a special interest in the treatment of anxiety disorders, life adjustment, healing from trauma, recovery from abuse, sexual health, and personal health/wellness. Her personal interests include learning about health and nutrition, reading fiction, spending time outdoors, traveling, and spending quality time with friends and family.

 

ALICIA MAURER-VALLIER, MA, MFT

Alicia is a marriage and family therapist in the state of Ohio. She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Music from Louisiana State University in 2004, and completed her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of Mobile in 2007. She has worked in Arizona as a Youth and Family Therapist and as a Clinic Services Coordinator and she has worked in Massachusetts as a clinician at a community-based acute treatment center for adolescents. She has spent the past ten years working at the Children’s Resource Center in Bowling Green, providing outpatient therapy and crisis intervention services. Across her various roles, Alicia has worked with clients with anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health concerns, alongside working to treat substance use disorders in adolescents. Alicia provides client-centered therapy, primarily utilizing CBT, family therapy, and psychoeducation to help clients gain a deeper understanding of their emotions and to manage difficult situations. She is passionate about helping clients find, accept, strengthen, and communicate their inner voice, with a special interest in helping clients express themselves and have tough conversations with others. Her personal interests include spending time with her family, traveling, studying languages, swimming, singing, playing the piano, and running and personal fitness. 

EMILY PADGETT, PhD

Emily is a licensed psychologist in the state of Ohio. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Christian Thought from Grove City College in Pennsylvania. She earned her Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology at Bowling Green State University. At BGSU, she concentrated her studies on clinical child psychology, with a research focus in the psychology of religion and spirituality and, in particular, how it pertains to family life. Emily completed her predoctoral internship through the Butler University Consortium in Indianapolis, splitting her time between the university’s counseling center and community mental health. Upon returning to northwest Ohio, she worked for six years at the Children’s Resource Center in Bowling Green as an outpatient therapist and crisis interventionist. While Emily’s practice predominantly focuses on children and adolescents, she also enjoys working with young adults. She strongly values working alongside parents and caregivers so they can feel empowered to effectively contribute to their children’s therapy process. Emily’s therapeutic style is active, collaborative, and directive. She primarily utilizes cognitive-behavioral and family systems approaches to treatment. While Emily has experience with a wide variety of clinical concerns, her clinical interests include anxiety, family conflict, parenting concerns, relationship difficulties, depression, trauma, grief and loss, communication, social skills, and coping with stressful life changes.  Emily enjoys singing, cooking, reading, watching documentaries, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

 
 

Our Office Staff

Becky Stayer, Office Manager

Becky is a graduate of BGSU with degrees in Forensic Chemistry and Spanish. She is responsible for insurance and billing here at Mighty Oak, and she is often the one who will answer the phone and email when you contact us. Becky is also on staff with H2O Church here in Bowling Green.

Sharon Miller, Office Assistant

Sharon is a long-time resident of Bowling Green and a retired RN. As the intake specialist, she keeps a close eye on the waiting list and loves to answer inquiries from new and returning clients and connect them with counselors. Off hours she enjoys walking with her dog, gardening, and listening to audio books.
